Alternative Candidacy Group

Have you been called to ordained ministry? Do you long for endorsement of this call from within the LCA?
There is a group of respected LCA members who have made themselves available to meet with people who have sensed an interior call to ordained ministry, to discuss the call and the ways in which that call has been affirmed through giftedness and experience, and the words and actions of others. The group may also advise on further preparation for ministry that they believe is appropriate for you.

To be part of this process, you are invited to submit the following documents:

    1. curriculum vitae with focus on influences on the candidate’s spiritual life, present sense of vocation, and perceived giftedness for ministry
    2. academic record of formal studies, especially theological studies
    3. statement on the candidate’s understanding of Lutheran doctrinal distinctives, especially on the gospel and public ministry
    4. letter of support from the candidate’s pastor
    5. letter of support from at  least one other member of the LCA.
They may be emailed to Ruth Z (email embedded) or email Ruth and she will supply her postal address if you prefer to send hard copies.

Please ensure you include your contact details. The group would endeavour to arrange an interview with you in a location within easy travelling distance of your home.
